Career Partners International Launches “New Horizons” Innovative Retirement Coaching Program

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 22, 2009) – Career Partners International (www.cpiworld.com) announces today the launch of a new retirement coaching program called New Horizons. Designed as a program that companies can offer to their eligible employees, New Horizons will help prepare individuals for a successful retirement customized to meet their personal needs.

“Baby boomers are exiting their jobs in significant numbers – some voluntarily as they reach retirement age and some involuntarily as a result of corporate downsizings,” says Dave Hemmer, president and chief operating officer of Career Partners International (CPI). “Regardless of their circumstances, these individuals need assistance in transitioning into retirement whether that means a complete withdrawal from the job market or perhaps crafting a career that enables them to work on part-time basis.”

According to a survey by AARP, 70 percent of baby boomers intend to keep working and earning in retirement. The majority of respondents (65%) hoped to find a job with better balance in their work and personal lives, while 75% said their ideal job would offer the “opportunity to learn something new.”

“For emerging retirees, this transition from traditional career to something that connects with a personal passion or offers better work-life balance requires a great deal of introspection and evaluation,” said Hemmer. “The CPI New Horizons program works with participants to identify and plan for new ways of living that speak to individual interests and aspirations.”

In designing the CPI New Horizons program, the company partnered with retirement experts Retirement Options to integrate CPI’s expertise and experience in executive coaching, outplacement and career transitions with Retirement Option’s specialized materials and coach certification processes.

CPI offices across the United States and around the world are participating in the training and coach certification process so that organizations with far-flung offices and facilities can deliver a company-wide retirement program to their employees.

“Companies today are looking for ways to meet the unique needs of the Baby Boomer employee, especially as he or she transitions out of the organization,” says Hemmer. “That individual has a  wealth of knowledge and experience that can enrich their retirement years. The CPI New Horizons program delivers an innovative coaching experience that enables emerging retirees to design a future that takes full advantage of personal dreams and financial realities.”

Career Partners International (CPI) is one of the world’s largest providers of talent management solutions with more than 160 offices in 20 countries around the world and serving every state in the United States. Established in 1987, CPI focuses on talent management, outplacement and executive coaching services backed by the expertise and experience of more than 1,600 highly trained professionals. Higher demand for outplacement services

By Staff Journalist, Singapore (Apr 30, 2009)

Singapore - More companies are turning to outplacement services to support their employees in the midst of career transition as the recession deepens.

William Ayers, a career management consultant and the founder of The Ayers Group, says outplacement and career transition services are seeing a 60% increase in demand as companies take strategic measures to realign their talent resources to manage costs.

Outplacement provides support and encouragement to employees and "assures them that they can be helped in the event of retrenchment, and what they can hope to expect in the future as job benefits", explains Ayers. It lets employees know they have people who are educated and trained to specifically help those caught in career transitions.

Ayers feels there are both fixed costs and variable costs, and the human asset is the highest and most important variable cost. Investing in outplacement services prevents workplace litigation, and also sends a positive message to the remaining employees in the company, keeping them focused and motivated.

Laletha Nithiyanandan, vice president of HR consulting (Asia Pacific), Kelly Outsourcing and Consulting Group, adds that outplacement services helps improve employee retention and enhances the brand equity of the company as the 'employer of choice'. It also "ensures their position in the market when the economy picks up".

Companies on a tight budget can invest in outplacement by "collaborating with the outplacement firm, understanding what the budget is, and letting the outplacement firm work with them to create something that is good for the whole organisation and give them a service which they can afford", says Ayers.
